Lisa Peddle

My background is not from farming, I wasn't raised warming lambs in an Aga or feeding calves before school - my passion for cows began when I returned to university as a 'mature' student. Initially, my goal was to train as a veterinary nurse, but after one module on livestock - the obsession went from strength to strength.   Initially I shadowed an independent RN - this was a huge motivation in continuing with my MRes at Nottingham. In order to balance out the academic learning, I also completed my AI course, PD course and am actively involved with the Women In Dairy and most recently became a signatory for the new GB Calf Strategy 2025-2030, which is a huge honour. I love being on farm and prior to this role, spent a lot of time fine-tuning my scanning with the support of a local vet practice. Within my role at Agriton, my aim is to support farmers in any way they need, from livestock health such as reducing ringworm, and other health issues to utilising by-products such as FYM to see lower inputs on farm. Knowledge exchange is the most important part for me - sharing my own technical knowledge but also learning first-hand from the farmers on the ground, who have to deal with the ever-growing demands from the industry.   I hope to be a part of this industry for many years, and whilst my part is small I will always advocate for the fantastic farmers we have - and take any opportunity to go and see the calves!!
